control panel size question

ok i'm alittle confused... lol i've used photoshop for a few years now and i'm very happy witht he results i can get from it. however, im really new to drawing control panels and also illistrator.

my questions are;

do you guys vector the whole panel or just pics eg logos etc etc, or do you use photoshop. what size in pixels should i set my canvas size too if using photoshop? thx..... are there any "outline templates i could download?

You set the resolution to 300 square inch, that’s standard printing resolution.
Vector because it is hard to find big enough images on the internet.
Standard screen resolution is 72 square inch. That means the images you find on the net are going to shrink more then 4 times the size when you apply them to a 300 square inch canvas. If you were to scale the pictures to a bigger size to fit your needs the prints would look crappy.

Vector on the other hand does not matter about size.

I work with a combination.  Vector anything that needs to be "upsized", then size it before dropping it into a rastered image (or work on a vector layer if your program allows it).
