stgdz's showcase build
« on: October 26, 2010, 03:02:02 pm »
So awhile ago I purchased this TV

A 36 WEGA CRT and yes it is a heavy as it is big, but not to bad for 75 bucks.  I configured MAME but didn't put much of and effort to get it up and running.  Well I got laid off earlier this month and now have some time on my hands to get the software side of my project back up running.

I got the PC mounted to a board with almost all the components and I plan on mounting it in near the coin bin under the control panel.  Rite now its just behind the TV up against the wall

An old A7n8x with and XP-M that I can't for the life of me get past 2.0ghz.  The radeon 9000 is connected to it via S-video and the picture is actually pretty decent.

So here is where I am from the software side
-I have two accounts on this computer, admin and the arcade account
-I have blackened out almost everything on the computer, the things that are still grey is the windows bar and the vertical scrolling bar
-MALA auto loads, but its the default screen
-The welcome and log off screens appear with sounds, I have tried to disable them following the wiki and using power toys.

Here are some of my goals though
-Get a different MALA screen, I like this layout http://bellsouthpwp.net/d/d/ddilday13/DSC00306.JPG but I don't see one like that on the MALA site.
-Get ZNES, Genesis and NES working with MALA
-Fix log off and log on screens
-Fix under scan issue http://stgdz.shackspace.com/Shack/Computer/MAME/underscan.JPG
-Get video's for games

I know I am missing some stuff in here but I am trying to approach it from the software first so I can get everything close to running then build the cab and the control panel towards the end.

Sweet, I'm looking forward to what you're going to do with it. Nice size tv :applaud:
