ArcadeVGA / J-Pac Monitor Problem........
« on: October 16, 2010, 01:37:50 pm »
Hi all,

Ive been trying to use an Arcadevga / J-Pac setup on my New Astro City Cabinet.

Im running in 15hz.
Im using Vista 32 bit as my operating system.

I have very heavy vertical sync issues. I dont know what adjustments to make to the
monitor to get it to sync correctly. I tried several with a (friend) and he said no improvments were made no matter how I turned the
Pots/Dials.

It scrolls like this through out the boot process of my PC. On the desktop. Or in Mame.
Im using a split screen so I can see it perfectly through the DVI out to my PC monitor.
But no success going out VGA/J-pac to the arcade monitor.

Here are some pictures of my problem. And this is scrolling very fast vertically.....

likely your computer is syncing with the dvi output instead of the vga output. i know it sounds stupid, but have you tried booting without anything connected to the DVI?

also, give a dvi to vga adapter a try. i had to do that with a golf game... couldn't sync it up with the VGA connector, but a dvi/vga adapter worked fine.  :dunno

Thanks for the reply lilshawn.

I see that there are two options when I go to resolution settings on the PC. There is an option to run 2 monitors or just 1. I will change this to 1.
and reboot. I will report back on the outcome.

Ok. I tried that and nothing changed.

Im going VGA out to the J-pac and nothing else is connected.
Same Sync Problem as before.

I tried the DVI to VGA converter method but Arcadevga wont output less than 800x600 when using the DVI out on the video card.

have a look at the sync connections from your jpac to the monitor, you might have something wonky.

also, if you could post what monitor is installed, i believe it's a Nanao MS9-29S but just to be sure... you may have some troubles finding documentation on it... in English anyway.

The cab plays PCBs just fine. Im not sure where to look to find the exact model of my Monitor.
I do have the New Astro City Manual in english but I dont know what will fix vertical scrolling.
All I see is a pot for horizontal hold. which did nothing so I returned it back where it was.

Well as it turned out Vista was the reason for it.

I switched to XP and the problem went away.

You can set the resolution in Vista and save it but over several attempts
Vista will output at a different hz resolution.

In XP it worked on the first try. Something to do with the vista drivers.
