Expo is a blast...

Just remember:

-Clay is NOT the god nearly everyone thinks he is  :police:
-Be sure to say hi and talk with Lloyd
-Don't be afraid to talk to others...the one thing nearly everyone there has in common with you is a love for pinball

Must attend events:

-Stern factory tour
-Banquet...Python is speaking this year...sure to be controversial

Also, bring plenty of cash for the exhibit hall...most vendors can't accept plastic.

I won't be going this year...bought too many expensive games this year

Ive been on quite a few forums, not too many have pinball areas. This one seems to have more movement than most!

Thanks for the heads up, I was planning on plastic... Im bring my 9 year old with. I converted him to a pinhead also. He got his first pinball machine this year - Fireball. Bought one of those customs balls from back alley creations, he loves it. When his friends come over thats all they want to do, the video games collect dust!

Don't forget to eat well and caffeinate. I was there last year (got there at like 3am thursday left end of the day sunday) and I think the most amount of sleep I got was like 3 hours. It was hard to not stay up all night playing pinball. I ended up one night just playing 24 for like 4 hours trying to train some on that game for the tournament. It was me and I think like 2 other people at 4 in the morning. Oh and remember that it ain't called the windy city for nothing. Had a cooler in the van where I wanted a soda, so I ran outside in shorts and a t-shirt in misty 40 degree weather with wind. That was probably the dumbest thing I've ever done.

Welcome

I will be @ expo too.

This will be my first, I heard its like 24 hours or something is that true? Do people shut off their machines when they go to sleep?

Machines are on all day and night, well in one section. There is 2 sections: the grand hall, which is where the vendors are and about 60-65% of the pinballs are, they close this off at midnight. The other section is a separate room which is open ALL NIGHT! Last year, when they closed off the main room (at midnight) I went to my room, slept for 3 hours and came back down and played pinball until around 8 am, got breakfast and started visiting the seminars.

P.S. Sleep isn't in existence during the expo. Well, you can sleep but you really don't want to. I was dead tired after the expo was over and my body thanked me for finally getting some real sleep, but it was all worth it.

If you're going to hear yet another "history of pinball" lecture or kiss some dude's ass that hasn't had a job in 25 years, Expo is the place.

Screw the seminars, I am there to piss my pants drunk & get jackpot on machines I have never played before.

I also hope to get a damn WMS backbox + playfield glass for my LCD pinball project that has been dragging its ass due to my being unable to locate parts.

I will sleep though, going to hit up downtown too!

The Dallas show is better if you're going to play games.

If you're going to hear yet another "history of pinball" lecture or kiss some dude's ass that hasn't had a job in 25 years, Expo is the place.

Seminars from P-ROC and NuCore are the ones I look forward to not necessarily the "history of pinball" ones. Those are good for your first year but since it is a lot of the same people, they bring a lot of the same stories. I still try to go to most, especially to see the new hardware that's keeping my machines running.

Screw the seminars, I am there to piss my pants drunk & get jackpot on machines I have never played before.

Reminds me of one time that I got in the elevator at the Expo. I get on, get down 2 floors and 8 drunks walk on stagger on to the elevator and I was just waiting to get puked on. They all got off, blown away at the idea of all the pinball, and I swear, with no exaggeration, there were 14 beer bottles left on the floor of the elevator. They were all fun drunks, but my god I've never seen so much alcohol fit in one elevator.

---fudgesicle---

I went to reserve last night but didnt finish since my wallet was upstairs & I was lazy = $124 nightly

Just now I had my card in hand ready to roll & they are no longer taking reservations with the pinball expo discount = $184 nightly

I'm out, just going to spend $10 & go to www.cppinball.com tomorrow instead & play 50 machines drunk. Damn, ---steaming pile of meadow muffin---, ---fudgesicle--- & other things Saint will censor with his evil forum rules.

That is so friggin lame. Seriously lame. I refuse to get strong-armed into spending another $200 on top of the $372 I was planning to spend on hotel + who knows what else on gas, food, booze & etc.

CP Pinball isn't as much fun as Expo, but I've gone to CP Pinball once when I went to St. Louis, it was lots of fun and you are sure that games are in good condition at CP Pinball. Expo still is a thing that you have to go to eventually so reserve early for next year ;)

Oh I hope to see the expo some time but as a poor college kid I simply can't make that monetary sacrifice.

Though $10 plus half a gallon of gas will get a HELLUVA lot of the silver ball at CP's tonight  >:D
