Stop Mame32k quitting to GUI?
« on: October 08, 2010, 02:06:44 pm »
Is there any way to stop Mame32k quitting to the GUI when you press ESC using Mamewah? I need it to drop straight back to Mamewah. I'm using version 0.37 BETA. I know I could use a different version of Mame but this is the only one that's fast enough on the old laptop I'm using so I'm stuck with it.  :-\

I might think the display of the front end is suppressed during emulator operation. What you can do is press the 'Start' button to go back to the desktop. Why do you want this?

I want it for a cab, so I need it to be a seamless transition from the game back to Mamewah when you press ESC. What happens is that it goes back to the Mame32k Gui, then you have to close the Mame window with the mouse, and then it goes back to Mamewah. That's not really any good for a cab which won't have any mouse controls.

why not use a command line version of mame?

I've tried a whole bunch of different versions. Most of them don't run fast enough because the old laptop I'm using is too slow. I don't have any problems with 32u901 but it doesn't run Pacman. That's why I had to use 0.37 BETA. Do you know of an old commandline version that runs Pacman because that would probably solve my problem.

You're using MAME32. Current front ends don't have this issue you're speaking of. So either try a newer front end - or go to MAMEdev.org and get MAME.

I will give these options a go but my hard drive has just died!!! I need to replace it before I can test anything out. Thanks for the suggestions though, guys. I'll post again with my results.
