Return to Pandora...
« on: October 07, 2010, 01:24:56 pm »
Avatar just arrived. First impressions:

Likes:
3D backglass is amazing...pictures can't show the effect very well
Short ball times, somewhat difficult rules
Art and sound package, although the art on the cabinet is pixelated as usual

Dislikes:
Box and packing foam damaged in transit, 2 legs fell out of box(being replaced by shipping company)
Many airballs...in 10 games, I've got them stuck behind the legs of the AMP suit, behind flasher domes, etc.
Magnet throws the ball in the air, over the flippers, and sometimes hits the glass

I have LEDs coming...I'll post pictures once installed.

Cool!

I won't be surprised if the first software update makes the magnet a little less wild. It sounds like it's just crazy at times.

I'm going to go to the Playdium store and take a pic of me playing that game.  Then, I'm going to PM it to you.

I played one, it is at the buy it now section of Timonium auction that occurs tomorrow. The game was a lot better than I expected, it plays pretty well but I still don't see $4500-$4800 worth of anything in it. The backglass looked really good, grabs your eye as walking by but not annoying when playing. Play was short but fun, no overkill. Again, good game, too expensive for me to go buying.
Where's my gold star :P

Still happy with it Q?

Got to play a showroom machine again today. Did much better (unlocked 4 ball multiball on all 3 balls). Overall it's too simple and stripped down. Had more fun with shrek and potc .  Are you bored with it yet?
NO MORE!!

Yes, I like it...It does play like a toy, though...a $4k toy...

Unless there's a big change made at Stern, this is probably my last NIB game from them...they are becoming cheaper and cheaper...hell, they might as well be made in China...they sure feel like imported crap...

I'm waiting to update this with pics of the LEDs and mods installed...there's a Cirqus Voltaire torn apart right next to it.

Damn, I wish I would get a chance to see some of these new machines.  The only time I'll ever get to see new machines is at the pinball show in March.   A digital (VP) build will probably be the only other chance I get to see new pins as NO WHERE around here purchases the new pins anymore.  Since I missed the show last month, I still have never seen Shrek, Family Guy, Dark Knight, Wheel of Fortune, World Poker Tour or Pirates of the Caribbean other than images.  :(

If possible, can you get us some really good pics of the plastics and the toys on this pin with the glass off?  If possible get the various toys at all possible angles.

Do I see a FP or VP development in the works?
