CGA to VGA converter for my 8 liner HELP! Am I setting this up right?

I bought a CGA to VGA converter so I can play my 8 liner boards on a PC monitor. Im pretty sure I hooked up the RGB + ground wires up correctly. For the time being I just stripped the one side and twisted it to the wires that go into the big game board harness. Please see the photos below for my setup. I am confused on where these 12V DC power supply wires go... like I am not too familiar with where exactly or WHAT exactly they can be wired into without blowing anything up. I found an old 12V dc power adapter for like an air purifier, but it didn't fit into the converter. That is the only thing I am confused on pretty much. Im sure the PC monitor supplies its own power and the VGA cable goes right into the input on the converter. Any help / suggestions would be great if anyone is familiar with this stuff.

You should be able to splice those wires into the +12V and COM
screw terminals on the power supply that your game board harness
is connect to.

on a jamma harness I think the first pin on the top side (they should be numbered) is Ground/Common, which is where you want to connect the black wire from power input to the converter. When I did this I just stripped back a little of the insulation of the wire that goes into that pin and soldered to it.

the sixth pin is +12V. Connect the red wire from the power input to this pin.

If you have a multimeter you can confirm this by setting it to voltage test and placing the black probe on the ground pin and the red probe on the sixth pin. This should read about +12V (if you reverse the probes it will read -12V). If you keep the black probe on ground and move the red probe to pins 5,4,3 (don't remember which one) you will find +5V also.

You can also google "Jamma harness pinout" and find some info on exactly what each pin on the harness is for.

I just installed a RGB to NTSC converter yesterday to play jamma boards on a CRT TV, so all this stuff is fresh in my mind..... hope it helps.

Wire them to the Game Power Supply..
like lilshawn said - Red to Positive (+) Black to Common (-).

I would never splice a power lead at the Game board Connector for an attached device.  This is saking for trouble down the road.

I would also put an in-line fuse holder with a 1/4 amp fuse (just to be sure) in-line with the red (+) power feed.

Everyone has pretty well cover the question at hand....just connect your power leads to the power supply as they described.

But an FYI to BurgerKingDiamond, an 8 Liner harness is NOT jamma.
(although an adapter could be made)

I wasn't really paying attention to the question I guess. I was just pointing out where you could get 12V from a JAMMA connector. Reading through this again I guess that's not what this guy's trying to do.
