Been gone, but back at the cab again
« on: September 27, 2010, 07:19:25 pm »
I never really left, kinda kept an eye on the board, but never did anything with my cab for a year. Got the bug again.....

So what is the deal with the pipedrm and elvactr roms? They didn't work last time I remember and now I am trying to fix this, if possible.

Running MAME 128.

Plenty of other questions, one thing at a time.

Thanks.

Pipedrm works just fine in Mame .139.  Mame .139 still complains of a bad rom in elvactr:

pal20l10b.a24 NOT FOUND (NO GOOD DUMP KNOWN)

I am not sure what purpose that rom serves but Mame .139 seems to run ok without it.

I'll show you once just so that if I teach you to fish, you should be able to feed yourself.
The best way to determine what happened is visit MAWS:  http://maws.mameworld.info and then search for the setname.
It will list the data the set needs, from what setnames and the crc32's the need to match as well as logged changed to the romsets.

For instance, looking up "pipedrm" and looking at the page:  http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/set/pipedrm

--
0.129u5: Corrado Tomaselli added Pipe Dream (World). Renamed (pipedrm) to (pipedrmu).
--

This would show that the sets were reassigned due to the WORLD set being made the new parent set.  Your "pipedrm" romset for the older mame should be renamed as "pipedrmu".  Likely since there are parts that were added to the world set, you'll need to require the newer "pipedrm"

"elvactr":  http://maws.mameworld.info/maws/set/elvactr

I don't see why this should not work.  The last romset change was in 0.106u12 according to the data as MAWS.
If there is a problem with the game itself, you can check MAMETESTERS to see if a bug has been reported.

Thanks so much.

This is quite a bit of information for me, so it will take a little bit to figure out. I will do my best and see what I come back with!

Thanks again.  :notworthy:
