Monitor replacement help needed.
« on: September 16, 2010, 06:22:33 pm »
Purchased a cab that contained Killer Instinct about two years ago. The Cab obviously is not an original KI cab. The JAMMA board was put in there and the original 1980's equipment also remained.

The monitor looks original and has lots of color fade and jumping issues. Purchased a new monitor on ebay a while ago. It is a NEOTEC NT-600DXA9.
My problem lies in the new monitor has a vga cord, while the old monitor contains a simple wire clip.

I cannot find any documentation on this monitor. Should I simply cut off the VGA cord and solder the wires together? Should they match up by color?

My first cab is giving me more heartache than I ever expected!

best emailing them direct

I will email them as this model isn't listed on the site. Only one input on this monitor and it is the VGA plug.

if the new chassis has a vga only then its unlikely to accept anything less than vga signal
you could use a converter

So this item will alow me to convert the wires from the jamma board into the vga plug shown above?

FYI,  that's a Double Dragon cabinet you've got there ;)

See my restoration thread here.  I would KILL to have that cabinet -- the side art looks really good, apart from some touch up needed on the black. Mine -- not so much :(  Wanna trade?

Are you sure the monitor you have is an arcade monitor? Or is it just a regular computer monitor? Based on the fact that there's no mention of that model number anywhere on Neotec's website, I'm thinking that it's designed for VGA input only (computer monitor).

If you want to run the JAMMA board that's in there, you'll need something that will convert the signal to one that your new monitor will accept. The beforementioned converter should do the trick. But for less money and little bit of your time, you could just work on getting the original monitor working properly.

Man, will my cab EVER be finished?
