slot monitor to vga?
« on: September 14, 2010, 12:43:12 am »
I obtained a touchscreen slot machine and I would like to turn this into a jukebox or possible touch games. (If you want to know, the games are boring keno, that's why)

My question is how do I hook up a computer to the monitor? The computer will be using a regular VGA cord. I don't have a clue how the wiring works. The monitor connecting to the slot has 6 wires, red, green, blue & white, gray, yellow.  Monitor: Tatung VT2040E

thanks fellas!

you should have a controller box for the touchscreen there someplace. it will be attached to the white serial connector you can see in your first photo.

likely it's a 3m controller or an ELO. drivers are available on their websites for them. You will have to see what is connected there. you will need to supply 12 or 5 volts that powers the controller. youll have to let me know what kind of controller it has and we can go from there.

as for your VGA connection... i would experiment..but if someone knows they can chime in. I know the red green and blue are just that, but for the others i'm not sure

I'm guessing that I might have to make something like this: http://www.epanorama.net/circuits/vga2rgbs.html
Time to learn circuitry.

likely not. there is a chip on the neckboard that takes care of that. it appears they have just hacked things up a bit to make changing out a monitor in the casino easy. pull out the old one and put in a new one. takes 30 seconds. it appears that is a standard VGA monitor, they just have a custom connector for it.

P.S. the computer signal outputs RGB already.... shhhh don't tell everyone.

wahla!  finished product.

Solution:
I followed the pin out on a vga cord.  I matched the 3 colors together R,G,B.  I then metered for ground.  Then the other 2 wires were for Verticle & Horizontal Sync.
