unable to assign buttons
« on: August 30, 2010, 11:17:11 pm »
So, I found my old mame disks and went to setup my controllers. However, I am un-able to assign any buttons to keys other than the keyboard.

I have mamep V 0.122u1 and wanted to keep it due to all my games working with this setup. Any ideas as to why I can't use joysticks (and thus will not be able to use a GPwiz)? I want to be able to use laptop as a portable arcade, and like the fact that I can play all the games I have. The newer versions of Mame don't play well with my games.

If you need more info, please let me know as I want to get this resolved soon.

Note: I understand that it might be easier to start fresh, and just setup fresh and port my games over. I just would like to be able to save the games as some of them are older.

Why not just go download  fresh copy of 122 and then copy the roms to the new MAME install?  You keep your roms and you can start fresh.

because that would make sense!  :notworthy:

Some times, the simple solution eludes me!  :laugh2:
