save high scores on pac man cabinet
« on: August 30, 2010, 09:40:16 pm »
Howdy everyone,

I was wondering where I could find a high score save kit for my original pac man pcb. I did find a 16 game w/high score save kit on two bits for $240 - but was hoping there was a more reasonable way to get high scores saved on my cabinet.

Thanks to any suggestions!

Check:

http://arcade.souzaonline.com/  more details here   http://forums.arcade-museum.com/showthread.php?t=113971

Or, just go for the 96-in-1 (I bought my MultiExidy from Mike and recommend him -- great seller)

You know l'd found that 96 in 1 multi-pac a few weeks ago and emailed mike with a couple questions  but never heard back from him. Same deal though the multipac is 150 bucks, is that really the cheapest way to get my highscores saved? lol

No, but they are the only "in-the-can" options.

You can make the modifications that are suggested at arcade.souzaonline.com youself for very little (assuming you can burn the ROMs, etc).

Namco/TwoBits are VERY protective of the PacMan IP.

I'll fire Bob at two bits an email and see if they have any cheaper "in the can" options.
Thanks again mate, I appreciate your insight and knowledge on this one!

May want to check here:

http://store.pacmandotcom.com/14-pacman

They may be willing to exchange your board + some cash for a modded board or be able to point you in a good direction.

NOTE: I seem to recall being told that pacmandotcom was also TwoBits, but I'm not convinced.

PinballJim - do you work for twobits or something?
Just wondering why you'd report people on ebay unless it was effecting your livelihood.

OK, perhaps I should have said that they have been enough of a pain in the ass over the years that lots of people, including a number of repro art folks, just stay away from Pac and Galaga stuff.

Yeah, that'd be a nuanced and fair opinion and as such is not welcome in the collector community.   ;)
