My Mario question box timelapse video

I've gotten bored with gift wrap lately so I started to make my own (in the garage >:D ):

Making of video:

The video is kind of hypnotic and mario related, so I thought you folks might enjoy :)

Here's a video grab from a different gift box for another friend's birthday:

That one was just supposed to look like a shipping crate (they had to get a big hammer to open it -- guess I made it too authentic).

Thanks! I'm not totally pleased with some details, but I didn't give myself enough time to get that picky :)

It took most of the day yesterday... I work kind of slow, but some of that was waiting for paint to dry, and setting up the camera and intervalometer (camera shutter remote with timer -- recently acquired toy, neat stuff!) for the various shots slowed me down a little bit.

Found a better photo of the crate:

And here's the one that started it all, a group gift for another friend... we didn't want him to be able to guess what it was, so I wrapped it up to make it look like it shipped internationally:

That's a flattering question -- unfortunately with my working speed, the project backlog says "priceless" :'(

I almost couldn't find the time to make that one, but the new toy (the aforementioned intervalometer) was compelling enough (just barely).

thanks!

Not odd at all, that's the lady of the houses' Cricut machine.

Usually for vinyl I use an old Roland Stika SX-12, but the lady is more familiar with her Cricut, and she was getting that set up for me while I was out working on the box.

Really really nice.  I love the video.  I wish everyone could make one of those for their projects!

How do you keep your tablesaw so clean?  Mine is out in the garage and every time I go out to use it there is a layer of rust or corrosion or something on the table.  Any idea on how to keep it so clean?

That's how I've slowly built up my pile of tools -- one good excuse at a time :D

Thanks chief! I'm totally setting this up for as many projects as I can going forward.

re: cast iron... are you in a humid area? I'm in the California Bay Area so it's not bad at all in a garage over here. I used to store it outside in a carport (enclosed on all sides except one) and that required lots of maintenance. I usually use TopSaver or T-9: http://www.woodcraft.com/Catalog/ProductPage.aspx?prodid=17586&ss=3db32961-f8b7-4670-a7b0-f668ad039a5c

re: The rust remover in that kit -- only used if I've let the top go too long without care... otherwise the protectant spray and then buffing with plain old paste wax is the combination that works for me. I've only had to apply the wax once in a whole year since moving into a place with a proper garage.

Hideous...

Heh heh, I couldn't resist dropping clues that it wasn't legit... he didn't catch on though, which I think made it a little funnier.
