Switching emullators in Maximus
« on: August 27, 2010, 09:28:18 am »
Sorry, their forums are down, and I just started using Maximus. I have loaded 2600, Nestopia, and SNES, and they work fine, but I can't figure out how to back out of one emulator to the main screen. I am sure it is something easy, but I keep exiting Maximus every time I try.  :dunno

The "Home" button.  (Took me a while to figure it out too, but hope this helps!)

um, I have no "home" button.

Right now just configuring on my laptop to switch over to the PC I am using. Just getting familiar with it.

um, I have no "home" button.

I have an HP G61 laptop, and while I do not have a dedicated Home Button 'per se', I can access it using the "Fn" (function) key and a number key.  Otherwise, I can also access it using the numeric keypad when NumLock is off.  What model laptop are you using?  As far as I know, every computer should have a home button.  It just might not be simple to access.

First, those forums appear to be permanently down.  Post here: http://forum.arcadecontrols.com/index.php?board=46.0

Saint was cool enough to give us a maximus arcade forum here on the BYOAC site at the address above.  Loads of good info, themes, tutorials, etc there.

As far as your question:
Yeah, it's one of the settings in your preferences (Hit Control+P while in maximus).

Click "Controller" tab, "Setup 1" tab, and then change "Previous Menu" to whatever you want to be the button to go to the main screen.  That outta do it.

Duh...I thought you meant there was a home button on the front end...lol. Now I know what you mean. However, once I set this up with arcade buttons, how will I do a "home" button?? I guess I will have to change it like nicky mentioned

With the emulator board, I'm sure you can have a button mapped to whatever key you're pressing.  From what I can understand, reading others' posts, some people use a combination of keys (i.e. press and hold P1 Button 1 and press the Coin Button) to enable special functions like returning from the menu they're in, but my personal preference is to have a dedicated button for it on an Admin panel.

Yeah I have mine setup for a combination of buttons to shut down the machine, and exit a game.  Someday maybe I may add a button to dedicate a button to those tasks, but for now I'm happy.
