Hey everybody,

I've not begun the construction of my cab as yet, however, I've been watching videos showcasing "Mortal Kombat vs. the DC Universe" (DC start and MK start ) and was wondering what emulators people are using and what games you play on them.  It looks to me like "MK vs. DC" might be a good contender, and I believe it's only for the PS3 so I wanted to find out what specs (hardware and software) it would take to run these games, and if they work with the arcade sticks we are all using in our cabs.

I did some research and it looks like there's an emulator called "MESS" for the PS3.  Could this be incorporated into an Arcade cab?  Can it be used with (for example) Maximus Arcade?  If someone is already doing this, I'm very, very interested.  What hardware are you using to give you the best picture?

Thoughts?

Im pretty sure there is no useful emulation for 360/ps3 at this moment in time.

Wii has good emulation, but thats about it (disregarding handhelds) for current gen at the moment.

So then, it looks like I might need to amend my question to include PS/2 as well?  I just fired up Maximus, and did note that there are PS/2 games in there too.  So, Tekken 5 and MK:Deception and MK:Armageddon are contenders?

PS3 emulation is probably 10-15 years from being a reality. PS2 emulation is still very sketchy and the scene isn't what it used to be.

Wii is the only current gen system with a working emulator at this time.

If you want to play MK vs. DC you'll need to buy yourself a 360 or PS3.

PCSX2 is about the best PS2 emulator I have seen, but the scene has died down quite a lot.

Some games work great, but many have issues, some are game breaking.

The only thing I use it for is Gradius V which works flawlessly if you have enough horsepower.

I have MK Deception running on my cab with Maximus Arcade using the dolphin emulator.

Can you share how?  What hardware and software (i.e. emulator) are you using?  (Smooth?)

Shateredsoul did an awesome write up (and vid) located in the tutorials section of the maximus arcade forum:

Dolphin is what I use for gamecube emulation.  It also emulates wii games well, if you have a beefy enough system to run it.  Mine seems to handle a lot of gamecube games fine and I never really messed with wii games on it much.

I can't remember my hardware specs off the top of my head, but I'll try to remember to look when I get a chance.
