Using a Pocket PC device as a second monitor
« on: August 24, 2010, 04:44:54 pm »
Hello,

This might be more of a modding question, and I have looked around a bit elsewhere but I am curious if someone here might have a suggestion for me.  This is all stuff up in my head right now and I do not know if it is even possible but I thought I would ask.

I have built an arcade cabinet, simple 2 person with trackball, I have a 26" LCD TV side mounted so I have a lot of Bezel space around the edges.

I also have a Touch PRO Windows Mobile 6 phone that I am not using anymore.  What I have been thinking are two things:

1. Is it possible to use a second monitor to show button layouts while playing a MAME arcade game?

2. If it is possible, does anyone know if it is possible to turn that Windows Mobile phone (or just the screen itself) into a second Windows monitor to display those button layouts?

In my head I would have it in the bottom right hand corner of my bezel, always shining with the button layout or maybe even the Marquee of the specific game.

Am I out to lunch here or am I not looking in the right place?

I'm curious about this too. I have an old Sony Clie PDA i thought of re-tasking. Or even an old portable dvd player screen.

I know that people have used small 7" screens for button layout etc. But those are 125 on newegg. Or 225 for one of those mimo touchscreens.
There's a few people who have that on this forum and the HS forum too. One is called the Invincer. Google him he has a video. Another guy has one underneath his CP glass. That's where i'd like to put mine or where you mentioned. I don't remember that guys name.

I just got into this part of my cab project but I think people are using CP Wizard and Marquee Magician to do this. You just need to figure out your screen situation.
