Help with Ms. Pacman/Galaga Cabinet

I inheireted a Ms.Pacman/Galaga Cabinet here is the problem I am having with it, The coin door is locked and I dont have the key for it and the machine is currently not set to free play and wont accept any coins, is there anyway to set it to free play with out access to the coin door or am I going to have to break into the coin door to be able to use it?

yes I did manage to pry the back open but I dont see any kind of reset or anything, and I have no idea about how to manipulate the board in any way I am a complete novice when it comes to these things

If you are in the back, you should be able to remove the screw holding the arm on the coin door lock.

There is a board in the way to do that. Is it a Ms. Pacman or a Galaga? If you have access to the board you can flip the dip switches for the game. It all depends on what game you have as to what switches to flip.

Yes RayB that is the cab in question though they mention a "faux" coin door and mine as an actual coin door, judging by that manual though sounds like my only option is going to be bustin into the coin door wich I hate to do but an un-usable machine does me no good either

Why not drill out the coin door lock?  Google for 'how to's' on the www.

Also, took me 30 seconds to find that manual via Google, so perhaps you can find the one for the coin-op version.

IIRC, everything is accessible via the TEST menu on that board.

NeoFlynn... Can you see the back of the coin door when you open the back of the cab?  If you can you just use a screw driver to unscrew the arm of the lock and release the coin door.  As this is a reunion cab I assume there is alot less stuff in the way since the PCB is so small.

Sadly no access to the coin door from the back there is a big piece of sheet metal blocking it with no way to remove it, I took a closer look at the actual PCB and i see a spot that says "test" but there is no switch or anything it is a square with 4 holes, 1 at each corner, I tried to snap a picture but its nothing but blur so i will have to try and manufacture some better lighting conditions and try again.  Dont know if I am supposed to use something to poke inside the hole to reset it or what, As I said I am a total novice with an actual arcade cabinet so I really appreciate all the help

If you can't get at the coin door from behind, then drill the lock and see what is behind the coin door (most cabs with Test buttons have them behind the coin door).

Well I finally decided to bite the bullet and try to pry open the coin door, and it was succesful and I should be able to dissasemble the lock and re key the thing if I decide i want to go that route, Thanks for all the advice you guys offered as soon as the door poped open there was the test button staring me in the face so I can finally enjoy my cab....Thanks again everyone

Don't re-key the lock...replace it. A new lock costs less than $4.

yeah thats what I meant by rekey, i meant replace, just came out wrong...LOL
