Four Weeks and Counting!
« on: July 25, 2010, 03:54:20 am »
No, sorry, this isnt about a sneak peek of the next Street Fighter game, "Street Fighter V : Chun Li and Cammy Get It On".

The 4 weeks is the number of weeks I have gone since my last cigarette! Woot! I guess it is kinda a milestone.

Anyways, I bet you are all going to go back to fantasizing about Chun Li and Cammy now..

Well done! A month is quite a mile stone indeed.  :applaud:

How are you finding it? Are you using patches or anything or just going cold turkey?

Are you finding the cravings are subsiding yet? The more time goes on the less and less you will think about them.

I'm nearly 8 months quit now and don't get cravings or really think about them at all. The only time I do is if I am standing next to someone smoking and it sometimes smells nice. I knew if I did have one it would be discusting though!

Keep it up though, its one of the best things you can do to improve your life.  :)

Yeah, keep it up. Don't get distracted and go back.

I have several friends who stopped and then started smoking again after half a year. Never understood that. You go through all trouble and then all of a sudden start smoking again.

Thanx guys. I have quit in the past, and it was hard. This time, for some odd reason it was nowhere near as difficult as it had been in the past. From what I can tell I am past the worst of it, and am simply lookg toward the future. On a side note: I hav also cut way back on the beer too, so even more money to save up ;)

Well, it'll be alzheimer's or parkinson's instead of lung cancer, but at least you'll have more spending money in the meantime.

Because you die so early that you won't get old enough to get alzheimer or parkinson's?!?!?!?!

Meh . . . nobody's gonna be dying from Alzheimer's 30 years from now.  I don't know about progress on Parkinson's.

Eh, that's part of it.  But if you compare across age groups (say 80 year olds), the smokers have a much lower incidence of neurodegenerative disease.  Granted, they've got to live long enough.  There's no explanation for this at the moment.

Feel free to wiki your way to competence on this issue.

Something like this?

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/06/13/smoking-the-connection-be_n_609424.html

What's odd is that research that was done before (outside the US) also indicated that smoking doubles the risk of Alsheimer's by two.

Still the chance of becoming 80 or older is a lot less likely for smokers than non-snokers. Makes sense you won't have many smokers in the over 80 group.

Nice Job.  Quitting ---daisies--- can be tough, stick with it.

I have also cut way back on the beer too.

That's cool too. Way to go!

Snake, You think yellow teeth, hacking cough, gruff scratchy voice, and smelling like
charcoal + skunk = cool?!

No, its the furthest thing from Cool.   Its absolutely disgusting.

 Congrats Katie.

and not with the drugs.  You can do it.

Bow ties are cool.

Both wrong.

An arcade cabinet in your house is cool.

Not even James Bond makes a bow tie cool.  Decorative bows of any kind are ridiculous when worn by non-children.  Doubly so when said non-child is also a non-woman.  That's not just my opinion; they are objectively out of style and have been for decades with the minor exception of tuxedos and even there they've seriously lost favor in the last ten-fifteen years.

While everyone knows this is true for most people, a few people delude themselves into thinking that they manage to pull the bow tie off.  Invariably they are wrong and are the constant subject of ridicule.  And abject hatred more often than not   ;D

Ok guys. There seems to be a misunderstanding of what COOL is. I happen to own a tardis and it can serve many different services.
Although it isn't a "real" tardis, it exists because I can dream.

Anyways, thank you to all who encouraged me.

I went on a 3 hour hike in Acadia national park to celebrate my victory and took hundreds of pictures (most of which will be in my newest Myst style game ;) )

Thank you to all who can see at least a portion of my potential future.
