Just compile a new version of MAME with the hi-score patch.  The patch does both.  It removes the nag screens as well as enabling hi-score saving support.

What does this compile stuff do? it may seem a noob question, it seems awfully complicated?

my mame saves highscores already?

found that when i go into the ini directory and then the mame.ini file adding

skip_gameinfo             1

skips the info i was talking about, thanks.

my original post was partly wrong as i dont have the "press anykey screen" i was meaning the game info screen :D

thanks
