Help needed finding a diode for sanwa monitor (RESOLVED)
« on: July 14, 2010, 05:43:54 pm »
Hi guys i have a sanwa 29e31s and im trying to find a diode for it. The location on the PCB is D401 and the sanwa service manual lists it as FMV-3GMR. I have Toshiba part number of    23357019 and 23357019X. I just cant find a supplier for it or a cross referance for it.

Does anyone have any advice or know where i can get one ordered and shipped to the UK? I have a feeling they are no longer available.

Regards, Chris

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice, but in practice.....there is!!

Give Craig @ www.giz10p.co.uk a call. He fixes monitors as well as specialising in Sega spares and may be able to help you out.

The data I found indicates it's a double damper diode for the horizontal deflection probably 1700V rated.  Chances are Fairchild or ST makes a suitable cross.  What's the package and pinout?

What type of package is it in?  It's probably either a TO-220 or a TO-247 (google for images).  I also would need to know which pin does what in order to cross it.  They're usually the same, but it would suck if this one's different.

http://www.lasertec.com.mx/productos/buscar/44/50p2/diodo-rectificador.html claims to have the exact part, but they're in Mexico.

Those Sanken parts can be hard to find outside of Japan/Korea/China, unfortunately.

There is a post in the below thread that has a pic in it which i hope may help

As for the pinout im unsure, i have the sanwa service manual, but the scan of the page is terrible. I will have to research what pinout does what.

Sanken have discontinued fmv3gmr, so it would be old stock, which is hard to find

Thanks everyone for the suggestions, i spent hours looking and going on chineese and jap sites using google to translate the pages. Non of which ship to the UK. FMV-3GMR is still available but hard to get to the UK.

I bit the bullet and contacted Craig at giz10p. He has 2 new tri sync chassis that have been in a customer ordered cab and used for 30mins then removed. These are 95+VAT. I ordered one and its on its way to me now.

So i have a sanwa chassis available for spares or repairs if anyone interested.

Thanks,

Chris
