dreamcast to vga box to vga to component converter to component tv work?

was wondering if I could hook up the dreamcast to a component tv through the vga and adding a vga to component converter and still have the higher resolution display with nothing goofy.

or is there a hard mod to make the DC do component off the mobo?

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

dang I am shooting for a display that can do the DC in vga and gamecube in component res's.

I have a VW246H 1080P wide screen that works great for the 360 and would work for them also but I like the ol CRT vga boxed screen for the cube and DC they just dont look right shape wise on the wide screen.

I would like to get a gateway destination or similair but thought if I could get the DC to go component then I could get away with a component TV instead of a large vga CRT as there getting harder to find and the shipping is a deal breaker everytime  :badmood:

To be honest with this question, you typically can't get the vga to convert to component unless you have a specific vga to component transcoder.  You can check for those on ebay.

Is the vga box any different then hacking vga directly into the DC? I put a VGA port on the back side of the DC but I dont have one of them fancy comp cables.
