NovaGem CDR pushbottons mounted on a coin door?

These are really, REALLY cool. Definitely worth the asking price! I have a pretty badass coin door like this one except my reject buttons are red and it took a lot of fine hammer work to make it look like it does [it looks perfect - the inside flange is a bit warped but it's inside so you cant see it and it makes the door stay nice and tightly shut].

Anywho, my door has been stripped of all electronics and rear junk except the spring part that pushes the button back to you. Has anyone swapped out the coin insert/reject part on a real coin door for the NovaGem? I'm gonna go rip apart my coin door right now and see if I can attach a microswitch to it.

I just rigged up a microswitch behind the reject. Works great.

I think the nova gem cdr is a bit too large to make work in most coin doors without alot of metal nibbling and filing.   Better off just rigging a microswitch to your existing reject button as GV and SH have recommended.

Personally, I prefer the large, easily pressable button face of the NovaGem-CDR.  Maybe it's me, but I personally hate the coin eject buttons on coin doors.  I always seem to rake my fingers on the sharp edges or bust my fingernail on them.  But that may be due to the fact that I usually stabbed at them angrily after the mech ripped me off for a quarter.  ;D

Some have converted coin doors successfully in the past.  It just depends on what's underneath the current reject button and one's skill in adapting to it.

i think those buttons are awesome, the problem is I'm cheap.  so when i can add a few switches behind my reject buttons for free, i just cant bring myself to spend the money on them.  Although the reject buttons on my midway coin door are very stiff and difficult for small kids to push.  i have been considering these buttons for on my new 4player project, but there are no purple and orange options to match my TMNT theme.
