ArcadeVGA3000 - Everything BUT 640x480 (fixed!)
« on: July 13, 2010, 04:27:15 pm »
I recently upgraded the PC in my cab, and decided to install an ArcadeVGA3000 (which took the place of a v1 ArcadeVGA, running under WinXP).  I have a 27" Billabs multisync, which never gave me any problems, and displayed all resolutions the v1 AVGA could throw at it.

In the new system, I am running Win 7 x64.  The AVGA3000 installs properly, and I can set up the tr-sync utility, and set the desktop to 800x600 and all looks great.

However, if I try to run anything (mame, znes, daphne, etc.) at fullscreen 640x480, the monitor goes black and silently chirps until I escape out.

All of the other resolutions (higher and lower) seem to work without a problem.  I don't believe it is a problem with the monitor, as it displays every other resolution, and displayed 640x480 without a problem in the prior setup.  I've uninstalled/installed several times, and am using the latest drivers (as supplied by Andy).

Anyone with an ArcadeVGA3000 seeing a similar problem?  Could this be a Win 7 x64 problem?

I've been emailing Andy, and he's working with me, but I'm curious if this is an isolated problem or if anyone had a similar problem (and solution).

UPDATE: Andy confirmed that the 640x480 was running slightly under spec in the last version of the drivers.  He tweaked it, and the problem went away.  It's been said many times on these forums that Andy's customer service is the best, and this once again proves it to be true.  The updated drivers are hosted at www.ultimarc.com/avgadrivers.html for those experiencing similar issues.
