Have you ever bought things randomly because of nostalgia?

Only to wonder afterwords why you did that and where it will go?

I just bought 4 boxes of 1994 FLAIR MARVEL UNIVERSE BOX INAUGURAL EDITION comic book cars... for 30 bucks (total).

Maybe they'll be worth something someday.... yeah... that's it!

Yeah, I bought four boxes of the ST:NG CCG a few years back. It only cost me $20 for everything but...dang, nobody I know plays CCGs anymore and the Star Trek CCG was pretty terrible to begin with. I didn't even get a Captain Picard card out of all those packs, either. :(

I bought the complete KI card set and an almost complete MK Kard set, for next to nothing; because it was cheap and neat

I've done it from time to time. Some things off the top of my head.

Snatched up at a comic book store clearance sale an opened box of Meanie Baby cards and Hildebrandt cards. I also picked up a complete set of Wizard of Oz cards. (I also snatched up a set of four oversized never used MTG promotional poster cards, but that's not nostalgia. Still trying to figure out how to sleeve them).

Purchased a few bits and bobs from eBay related to Lunar (a boxing toy and a medallion). Also found some Atari related hardware such as the SIO cables and a SIO <-> RS232 adapter port box. Just recently picked up two vinyl records, one is Super Breakout and the other is Missile Command. About two years ago, an AtariAge fan digitize his entire collection and put it on DVD. Unfortunately, I missed out on that deal. Hopefully, they'll upload the DVD soon. I did find a website that did have some of the MP3's, but I can't figure out where it is now. (just discovered GameArchive is gone. It's been two years?)

I went through an old book phase for a while. Picked up books like Little Fuzzy, Barnstormer in Oz and 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea.

There's a few others, I just can't think of them right now.

A few years ago I bought a few packs of garbage pail kids. After the initial glee, I ended up just throwing them away... :dunno

LOL I have some of those and a whole sealed pack of treasure troll cards  :-\ and some YO! MTV Rap cards cause the price was right and it was worth the laugh.

I buy things and forget I have them I opened a dusty box from atop a shelf the other day and found a intellivision and some boxed games  :dizzy:

The worst thing is I buy the same thing more than once, I have bought my wife the same ring 4 times now cause I find one and say hey that looks like her and she says it should you bought it 3 other times and its not a new ring they are all antique. Granted this is over a 20 year period but 4 of the same thing sheesh  ???

lol, I feel like a dumbass.  I thought I was buying 4 sealed boxes.. I bought 4 sealed packs of cards.  Damnit.  That stings.  I keep forgetting how important it is to read those descriptions.  A Box is $90 =/ I don't think I'm that nostalgic.

www.itrackmine.com - you'll never make that mistake again! At least, maybe not. I don't think it will help you track your jewellery purchases. My wife and I just scanned our media collections in and we found more than a few duplicates.  :-[

I kid you not, I work with a guy who is on his THIRD Wii console.  He keeps buying then selling them back to Gamestop about a month after he and his wife get bored with it.  This along with untold other things.  He's about 40 years old, and is constantly flushing money down the toilet by doing this exact thing with video games and such.  He bought a PS3, only to sell it back about two months later.

Funny thing is he doesn't have wads of cash to do this.

does this count.

I bought a barcode battler and then spent loads of money buying crap I didn't want because it had a decent barcode.

I remember when I bought it (when I was about 24) the woman in the shop thought I was a sad git.

I remember this. It was featured in EGM at one time. Article described a soup can that couldn't stay on the shelves because it presented near impossible stats to the gamers.

I also remember being super excited about this and I searched high and low for it. Of course, at the time, I had no access to what passed for the internet back then and I had no clue about the existence of import stores.

Yeah, I had a friend that did this. Bought a N64 while he was over seas, then sold it three months later. Did the same with a Saturn (IIRC). His reasoning was a little different though, his logic was that if he ever got to the point he couldn't fit everything he owned into a duffel bag and two milk crates when it came time to move, it wasn't worth keeping. Keeping the N64 would've meant getting rid of either his meager comic book collection or tossing his MtG and LotR TCG. He ditched the N64.

I have friends who do this with pawnshops. Silly thing is, they most often bought the crap from there in the first place. Each time is more and more oney lost. I keep telling them if they just went without beer and weed for one week, they'd be back in the black!

Haha yeah I bought the whole set of Dinosaurs Attack! From the 80's just cause I had found 4 of the cards in my closet and I wanted to know the rest of the story. Good ol ebay. King of the money blowers...
