Kortek KT-1420A (KI-2-VO) Shutting Down

This monitor powers up and I get a picture for about 10 to 20 seconds and then the monitor shuts off.  The picture looks fine other than it seems to have a slight wave in the picture.  Does anyone have any thoughts on what to check/replace to rectify this?

without seeing a schematic, a visual inspection is warranted .
look for domed /leaking caps , burn marks, poor solder connections , etc....

since there is a "wave" , i'm betting a *linear regulator type pwr suply .
thus, a weak/bad filter cap there is a possibility  .

could also be a faulty decoupling cap in the Hosc circuitry - i.e. may cause Horizontal instability

* requires an isolation xformer

Thanks for the reply qrz.  I didn't see any bad/leaking caps but I did a cap kit anyway and it didn't change anything.  I'm guessing the filter cap is the gigantic black one behind the flyback.  Is there a way to test this or should I just order up a replacement and put a new one in?  Ken Layton sent me a copy of his repair guide for this chassis with a list of components to check.  I will have to do some homework to figure out how to test all these though as I as don't have a lot of experience in electronics. -Jarrett
