  • Bees! Oh bother!
I was blessed and worked at a job from 2008 - 2009. Private school that saw it's enrollment drop a LOT (over half the staff was fired), and of course I was let go (right after my dad died - same weeK).

I did take a sub position with a local county, and am still in their database, but really could use something steady. If anybody's in the Atlanta area and hears of anything, let me know. :)

Probably useless to you, but I see a lot of people leaving the country to teach. Specifically Korea. Mostly English, but I see quite a few other fields leaving to teach overseas. Not sure on the pay, but I heard it's pretty good.

It's a thought.

I have a friend in Korea doing just that.  He really loves it.  His kids are grown and he is not married so it is a good fit to his lifestyle.  It is not for everyone.

My wife is a teacher and where we live it is a tough to find a job.  There are literally hundreds of applications for each open position.  It will help that you have experience.  I wish you luck.

I think RTSDaddy2 has a wife and kids, so teaching overseas may be a bit hard for him.

If you're replying to a troll you are part of the problem.
I also need to follow this advice. Ignore or report, don't reply.

Haruman's  correct on the wife, but just one child (and to borrow from Bill Cosby, the reason we have one child is because we did not want two.)

I have actually thought about going overseas for a year, but that only works if I can take the family along.  Our state has some sort of government subsidy program where if you've been out of work for x amount of time, they will give you a job coach and help you look for a job.  My wife signed us both up for that, but so far daddy is the only person who gets to go check this out on Monday.

I hate the idea of working for the government - I don't want a damned desk job where I'm behind the desk at a little cubicle all day - BUT we just realigned our mortgage in hopes of keeping our house, and Christmas is coming faster than you think (the Wii Christmas counter has us at 185 days, I believe or 26 weeks).  I don't want to leave teaching but I need income rather desperately.  SO I'll go get my little job coach and see if she can do anything for me. Six hours though Monday in downtown Atlanta, in the heart of a GA summer, to take an orientation class that probably won't mean squat to me. Yeah, I'm THRILLED.
