New Arcade Shooter for PS3

For those of you who loved gradius, there's a new game on PSN that's basically the same type of game.  Called Soldner-x 2:Final Prototype.  There's videos for it on the PSN.  I bought it yesterday but haven't tried it yet.  Gradius with HD graphics if you will....

It is much better than Solner-x1, but I still got tired of it pretty quick and went back to Gradius V. For the same amount of money on PSN, I would recommend the Gundemonium Collection. It's three games, two horizontal shmups and one Vertical. The Vertical one, Hitagota Happa, is worth the price alone. It is amazing.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

+1 on the Gundemonium Collection. I purchased a PC DVD from Rockin Android at the last A-Kon convention in Dallas. I have it on one of my cabs. Works fine on a Intel Atom with a nVidia ION.

Hitogata Happa is so much fun. I was in good shape to get the number one spot on the online leaderboard for Nobilmente (normal) difficulty. Me and the top other guy were going back and forth between first and second place for a few days. I was playing obsessively trying to keep improving just enough to stay ahead. Eventually he put up a score that I had no hopes of ever reaching though.... He then went on to get the number one spot for every difficulty, and get EVERY trophy. It turns out that he's a Shmup/Japanese Culture freak who has a 1CC list a mile long. So I guess I don't feel so bad for losing to him. I haven't been on in at least a month, so who knows if I'm still second. My PSN name is BRUCEtheMOOSE.

Soldner-x1 was pretty fun, and hard. I liked it except, it wasn't good that you couldn't distinguish between the foreground objects  (that you can't run into) and background. Looks like they improved that for x2, there's a better looking separation of the two.

I might have to check this one out.
