It has begun - new pics!
« on: August 02, 2003, 04:23:36 am »
well it has begun, I spent the better part of the week cutting, routing, clamping, glueing etc. here is the fruits of my efforts (so far) lots to go yet.  but it's the UAII cab with a twist I can break it down in to upper and lower halfs for easy moving.  I'm gonna make the control panel easily removable as well other wise I would never get it out of my basement  ;D

Ya it sucks, it's an over/under coin door. got it before I knew how big of space I needed to fit it into.  It goes all the way to the bottom edge which is ok, the cash box can slide right in and sit on the bottom of the cabinet.  It 'just' fits in the space provided.  When I get it all painted then it will blend better I hope.

I bought it on the assumtion that it cam eback on when unplugged and plugged back in cause it does, but after about 15min of being unplugged then plugged back in it doesn't come back on  :-\  ahh well I have decided to just use the tv remote to turn on the whole cabinet. I'm gonna get one of those smart strips and plug the tv into the Hot outlet and when the tv is turned on (via the remote) everything else should power up.

Another option is to jam a piece of wood into the power button, (So it is stuck on)

Then if you unplug it and plug it back in it works!

Here it is with Primer and a first coat of black satin latex paint, starting to look like a real cabinet now  :D  can you tell I'm getting excited?  I still have a lot to go tho, the control panel hasn't even been started or designed really, got some sketches and an old protype that I have been playing on while I work on the cabinet.

Looks like mine at that stage.. :)

Keep up the good work.   Can't wait to see your control panel and what artwork you add to it..

Instead of actually using the remote, you can take it apart and wire the power button of the remote to a pushbutton and put it on the back of your cab.  Then remove the IR transmitter, extend it with wires, and put it right next to your tv.  I did this with an RCA universal remote ~$8, instead of using the actual TV remote.  My IR sensor was covered so I had to find an alternative.

Doh that last one was a little huge!  The marquee is just an old poster I had laying around.  I intend on making something decent eventually :-)

Ha ha I can't believe you wired up your CP without finishing it! LOL.
Great job on the cab I guess you'll get bored one day and take the CP to bits so you can finish it but it may never happen. What a shame it was looking like being a real class effort, well done.
