Hantarex Polo2 & CRT Specs
« on: June 08, 2010, 06:18:21 am »
Hi all,

I got my hands on a cab witch has an hantarex polo 2 15/25 monitor, it wans't working the chassis
was badly damaged the pcb was broken in some places a real mess, so i got a new chassis for it
(polo2 15/25) but it doens't work either there is high voltage i can ear the degauss and all but no image
there is no neck glow, now the broken chassis had a sticker in the nerck card with some resistor values
for different kinds of crt's something like this:

CRT                            A59ECY13X01                         A59EAK552X11
                                 A66ECY13X01                         A66EAK552X11

R35                             4R7 7W                                 12R 7W
R119                           1R2 1/2 W                              R82 1/2W
R9                              N.C.                                      39K 1/4W

the new chassis is configured exactly like the second column and the old
chassis has on r35 = 5R1K r19=R82 r9=39k, my problem is that the crt that
is in the cabinet is a A66EAS13X01 and it's not on the above list and i'm a bit
scared of doing experiments tha can possibly kill the crt, is there any
way to get the specs of the crt in order to find the correct values for my crt?

thx in advance.

you should be ok,use a multimeter set on ohms to read the horizontal yoke-it should read around 2.1 ohm
here are the full yoke spec for a A66 crt

the crt you have should have the components from the first column

POLO 2 auto sync 28"
Lh 1.40mh Lv 7.3mh Rh 2.1 ohm Rv 5.6 ohm

Took the readings with my dmm and got this values:

Lh 1.58mh Lv 26.0mh Rh 1.4 ohm Rv 9.5 ohm

so what you are saying is that i have to replace the resistors
to match the values that are in the first column?
Like R135=4R7 / R119=1R2 / R9=None (i presume N.C. means no connection?)

r35 affects the tube heaters so change that to a 4r7 ohm
r9 is on the east/west correction board-that will affect geometry-n.c does mean not connected
r119 is on the vert deflection ic circuit

do not worry about r9 and r119 for the moment as you will still get a picture with them not being the correct value

Got the resistor but it's different from the original one in shape,
it's the one on this page with 4R7 5% 7W
http://www.peccomponents.com/pca.htm

The guy at the store told me that i shouldn't have a problem with it.
gonna try it later today and will report how it goes.

Success, soldered the new resistor today and got image, kept him on for about 2 hours,
it seems to be running pretty ok, geometry seems ok too after a few tweaks, btw what
specifically does the control marked "Keystone" i dind't mess much with it, seemed to
afect geometry but couldn't figure exactly what it did.
Also is there any specific method to adjust the high voltage/brightness/contrast?

Thx for the help

i usually set the screen volts with brightness fully up so that the screen has whitish effect but no flyback lines-this gives you very good control on the brightness pot
set the contrast that the colours do not overdrive and bleed

keystone is similar to trapezoid
