MAME 138 VSYNC causes slight pauses?
« on: May 28, 2010, 09:43:11 am »
I've recently updated the MAME in my cabinet to the newest release, 138.

I've noticed that when the wait for V-sync option is used, it causes a very slight pause every so often.
I really notice it when playing a games like Striker 1945 Plus. When I play Donkey Kong you don't really notice
but it affects the audio sometimes. It sounds like the audio "jumps" I guess you could say.

Turning off the V-sync option and the pauses go away, but I get terrible screen tearing in games that scroll the screen.

Now, the older mame I was using in the cab (127 i think) didn't have this issue. Is there a work around? Is this a know issue? Would anyone happen to know what version of mame this problem was introduced in?

If I had to drop back a few versions it would not be a big deal, but I'd have to do all the work of gettign the righ roms sets for that version.
