Dreamcast Arcade Cab Marquee Suggestions
« on: May 27, 2010, 08:14:51 pm »
I'm currently revamping an old unknown arcade cab into a Dreamcast vertical shooter. The cab looks almost like one of those Taito cabs with the curved edge where the screen is. Anyway, I'm looking for marquee art suggestions. Show me what you've got. And thanks.

*UPDATE*

I've been working on this a bunch this week. My brother, our friend, and I went to Funspot on Friday. Now I want to get it done. The new parts or the bezel, the CP, and I started painting the sides. I think I may make some sort of overlay instead of painting.

either go with one gametheme like the dude from otaku did with his blast or mix something up like i did with my shooter omi . i couldnt choose a single game , coz there are so many great jap shooter artworks.

I've wanted to have/build/convert a Dreamcast cab for a while now and in my opinion, you should proudly display that it's a Dreamcast.  I don't have any specific examples for artwork but I know if it were me there would be "Sega" "Dreamcast" and the "swirl" nice and big on all sides!
If there's bees in the trap I'm catching em
By the thorax and abdomen
And sanding the stingers down to a rough quill
Then I dip em in ink, and I scribble a bit
But if it they wriggle then I tickle em until they hold still
Lemme say it again
In my land of pretend
I use bees as a mf'n pen

Oooh thanks for the art examples. I'm thinking that Ikaruga one that I made might be it. I'm thinking the side art will be Dreacast-esque. Something similar to the Atari uprights. Or somehow getting NAOMI in there. Right now I'm wiring the controller to a CP. I've got a 27 inch TV in there vertical, so I'll be sticking to Under Defeat, Ikaruga, and Trigger Heart for now.

Do you mean a "dedicated Ikaruga"? No such cabinet exists, only conversion kits for high res cabinets. But that cabinet pictured above is a guy going that extra mile for a dedicated look, which of course is very excellent. The artwork was done by: http://triplemoonstar.brinkster.net/mcs/default.asp

There's a few more that you have missed (perhaps on purpose) listed here:

I apologize for the poor layout of the wiki page.  Obviously I'm no wiki-master and nobody else cares enough about the subject to try and fix it!

I meant that those are the games that I have right now. I have Psyvariar 2 also, I forgot about that one. So what is that vertical, in the picture, based on? It sort of looks like a Viewlix.

It's a SEGA NAOMI Universal upright cabinet, repainted black and chopped down to a sitdown version aka SEGA New Net City.

Oh ok. It thought all of the Candy/Japanese cabs were sit down type. At least the newer ones. I like that thing. I was going to build something like it, but I ended up with this thing for nothing and a 27inch TV I found on the side of the road. So this will be the way I go.
