Particle board creating sparks
« on: May 27, 2010, 02:12:35 pm »
I was cutting some particle board on my table saw yesterday and was getting occasional sparks.  It was too far away from the edge for a staple to be.  Anybody else seen this?

yes, I've seen this before. From what I have heard and seen, there are sometimes pieces of sand in the board. I wouldn't worry unless there are is a shower of sparks. The occasional one is not a worry.
Later.

Yeah perfectly normal, partical board is cheap to make and is just compressed sawdust/woodshavings from shop floors sometimes they contain bits of screws, sand, anything really lol XD
