Help With "Sony FD Trinitron KV-28LS60B"
« on: May 23, 2010, 01:07:34 pm »
Hey All  :)

So you all know I'm living in ireland so that means I'm playing with 230Volt electricity so room  for error is usually zero  :dizzy:

I recently transplanted this Sony from its original casing to my cabinet but unfortunately some wires became detached during the process. Its fairly obvious to me where they go but i don't want to risk causing damage to the TV so i said i would ask for opinions and advice before switching it on again.

The wires that have become detached outlined in photos below have only one place they could possible go on the motherboard. Just double checking.

I also want to detach the speakers and sub-woof as they are cumbersome and annoying but an electrician told me that this could overload something on the board so its best to leave attached. Seen as MAME's sound comes through the PC and not the TV can i just unplug the speakers and sub-woof? Hopefully the following photos and descriptions will help. I've also included a link to the service manual and technical info for the TV hopefully it may help one of you if you can help me.

Manual Link http://www.s-manuals.com/tv/sony_kv-28ls60x_chassis-ae-6b
The first 2 photos are front and back snaps of the tv mounted:

THe next 2 images are of the speakers and where they are connected to the motherboard. My real question about these 2 are can i just unplug them and fire them away as they are just extra weight and untidyness!

The following two images are as follows : 2a: this wire comes out of the back of the tube and is two wires black and white the only place i can see where they go are in the center of the photo below it beside the yellow plug. this is the only place it could possible fit.

The next photo shows a cable to the left coming out of the board at the back of the tube the only place i can see where this could go is in the black port to the right in the photo above this one! There is no other place this could go.

The last lead which i need help with im pointing to with a screwdriver in the photo below:

The only place this could attach is at the back of the motherboard as seen by the empty port in the following photo:

I hope Ive been helpful in my descriptions and that someone outthere can help me. I could of chanced plugging them all in and unplugging the speakers but i just wanted to be sure as this is my first build and i want it to be as good as possible. Also if i blow up the TV it will be a pain in the arse to alter everything to fit a different screen. Anyway anyone who can help id be most grateful! Looking forward to hearing from someone!

All the best!

normally plugs are made so they can only go to one place(plug size/cable length)
to be 100% sure where everything is meant to go you would need a schematic diagram

as for speakers being disconnected i can't see any harm being done

Thanks for the advice. These cables that have become loose and detached are exactly like you said. They seem to only fit one place and the lengths seem to allow them to return to the obvious homes!

As for the speakers i'll detatch them tonight and post back asap and let you know.

thanks again for the advice  :notworthy:
