(Noob) LCD suitability question

Hi all,

I'm about to build a slimline MAME cab using one of my old LCD monitors.  I have a 19" LCD and a 22" widescreen LCD with both generating roughly the same quality image.  Given there's no image difference, what would you use for the cab?  Will the 19" be more authentic?

I intend to test both but thought I'd ask the gurus here first.

i used a 22 wide in a vertical orientation and it looks great... not sure about using it regular horizontal... i might prefer the 19 for horizontal use.

try both and see what you like! can't hurt nothin'.

What panel do they both have? Check it on TFT central or so. IPS, MVA or PVA panels are suitable for vertical mounting, TN panels don't.
19 inch 5:4 is OLD so that means it probably has a BETTER panel! Mainstream wide screen crap is way less quality then what you could buy 2 years ago.
Which panel has the most 4:3 estate? The 19 inch is 5:4 so subtract black borders top and bottom, the 22 inch is 16:10 or 16:9, so subtract borders left and right. Which one is biggest after this calculation?

When I check my own infographic, I can tell you that 22 inch 16:10 is largest, then 19 inch 5:4 and then 22 inch 16:9 when it comes to size of 4:3 content.

Thanks people.  According to TFT central, I've got the following kicking around...

AOC LM919 - (25ms) - 19" Sanyo SVA (TM190SX-70N01)
Samsung 206BW - (2ms) G2G - 20"WS TN Film
Dell E197FP   (8ms)   - 19" TN Film

Looks like a pretty poor choice.  I may look around for a different second hand monitor.  Any recommendations on potential good choices that don't cost too much?

That Sanyo is a VA panel. Doesn't it have a better image stability from angles then the others?
Don't be confused by old school long response times. They are mostly better then new short ones!
A bunch of year ago you had NO lag and just a bit ghosting or slow response.
Now you have almost no ghosting, response problems, but serious input lag because of preprocessing, even on TN panels.
The legendary and still made HP LP2065 is still one of the fastest and nicest looking gaming displays. Even though it has a 16ms IPS panel. The reason while it is still made is because it's a damn fine office monitor and is bundle in many business deals, but it's actually meant to be a gaming display with photo-accurate colours
