new null dc... really? nulldc_104_r22
« on: May 12, 2010, 08:34:12 pm »
http://code.google.com/p/nulldc/

I downloaded this version.. nulldc runs fine on my 64 bit windows 7 and in fact... it runs almost too well.  A lot of the issues that nulldc had before are fixed in games.  It has a controller plugin that you can use for a 360 controller (and you don't even have to configure it).

This makes it almost painless to integrate it into your arcade system.. wow.  I'm not sure if this is the same guy who made the original nulldc, but I'm impressed so far.

Did work on this emulator pick up again?

wow.. seriously, has anyone tried this yet? I've never had such an easy time getting games to work and the games look great!  even 2d games seem better (no more chopping between sprites in Street fighter alpha 3)

Wow.  I haven't tried this yet.  The last version wouldn't work right for me... (I had to go 2 versions back to get mine to work).

Good post!

On the naomi version , the 2nd player inputs don't work in games (like the older version).

It looks as though the original author of nullDC, drk||Raziel, has abandoned the project, releasing both the source code and this, his final revision of the emulator.

Theres many improvements added to this version that really make this a much more solid emulator. I can see a lot of fixes made to compatability and speed. I especially love the XBOX360 gamepad plug-and-play feature. As good as this release is, it's sad that the author has decided to abandon this project.

My only gripe was getting this release to run correctly within Maximus Arcade. The emulator would load, you could hear sound, but see nothing but a black screen. Moving the Dreamcast emulator to another console container (in this case the TI994a) was the only way I could get it to finally work correctly.

How did you get Street Fighter Alpha 3 to run at all? I can't get past the SEGA splash screen following the Dreamcast logo at startup. I've had this problem since the 1.0.3 release.

Hey Aldous,

I had the same issue with integrating it into nulldc, I sort of gave up and decided to go back to it later... I guess I might have to do the same thing you did, and just put it under another emulator.  I think it hooks on to the first window that pops up, and the first windows is the window that shows all the info about game launching (if you change the options to "maximized" you can see this happen).

I'll check for street fighter alpha 3 later, I didn't do anything special though.. maybe it's because i have an i7 cpu?

I cant get this version running at all.

103 runs fine, but this one force quits as soon as i start the emulation. Quite annoying really, and i cannot see any reason for it . i get no error messages at all, it just exits.

Works ok on my laptop, but not in my cab, which is kinda the point. I have a virtua fighter 3 cab, and would love to have the game running on my cab. however, the cab has been jamma converted, so i cant run the original PCB.

Ah, finally got SF Alpha 3 running! If the video output type is set to anything but the traditional RCA connections, the game will not boot. Just an FYI.

that's strange.. can you give us more info about your cab pc (OS might be the most important if you had nulldc running previously)

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

hmm well i suspect it's ACTXPRXY.DLL that's the issue, try downloading that file and put it in the folder where the nulldc.exe is.. see if that works

I had Null_DC 1.03 running on my Vista32 machine just fine.  Might be a configuration issue?

Never used nullDC before, does it read ISO/BIN images? If so, awesome - I have every DC game ever released in NA ripped to an external HDD...

Just gave this a shot last night on Jet Grind Radio and even with several applications running in the background on my 4 year old laptop, the game ran reasonably well. I'm gonna give this a shot on my beefed up emulation station to see how it runs there.
