An alternate Intellivision emu for your cabs
« on: July 30, 2003, 07:56:01 pm »
The current emu I have been trying to setup is one for Mattels Intellivision console. Along my travels I tried:

Bliss32
Wierd things were happing with me for this one, especially in the area of controls. The keyboard would only intermittently work, simulating the control pad. Attempting to play Pitfall was hopeless, I could rarely get the little fella to move.

INTVWin
No success with this one whatsoever, I couldn't get anything to run (most probably user error - but I gave up anyway).

Then via google, I came across one that I have't seen listed on other typical 'list-all-emus-for-a-console' site.

Its called Nostalgia, and can be found at:

http://www.gotmaille.com/nostalgia/nostalgia.html

Key things that made me like it:

(1) It worked first go, no frigging around.

(2) It is pre-configured to exit with the ESC key.

(3) It appears to be still actively being updated. The last revision was the 16/05/03. I guess you may then think 'well if its still being updated, it probably doesn't work with all games'. Their site does specify "Run all existing games and any new games. "

(4) Although this won't really be applicable for a cab, but in the game list screen, you can display an image of the keypad overlay .. quite a nice feature. Admittedly with a cab, running the exe from the command line, you will never see this but anyway.

Anyway, just thought I would share my experience with this emu (I am in no way affiliated with it), for those looking for an alternate Intellivision emulator for their CAB.

Cheers

Martin
