Question about Custom Bezel design
« on: April 30, 2010, 03:51:29 am »
So I'm working on artwork for my arcade cab, and I was just wondering.  I'm trying to stick to a basic theme, but the kid in me wants to just throw all my favorite video game characters all over the place.  My question to you all, is do you think it looks tacky to have a plethora of video game characters scattering the artwork?  I was thinking of maybe just having a group shot of most of the game characters I want for the side art, and then leaving them out of the rest of the theme for design sake.  Maybe some of you could show me examples of both good and bad bezel artwork?  that might help too :)

I'm making a bezel at the moment, but im putting informative information on it. Like emulator controls, menu controls etc. I think a good bezel is a well organized and well layed out bezel, random characters everywhere may just end up looking sloppy  :)

too bad the link with the good examples was a bunch of dead links =/  I also need examples of bezels, not full arcades.

Yeah, that's a bit of a problem at the moment. That's why the wayback links are there.

The bezel examples are all around you. IMHO, some of the best bezel art work with the cab art. It's a cohesive whole.

What I would do is look at the cabinets you really like, either other works or the "professional" cabs in the wild and see what they do.

My advice? Use KISS (not the band) and it should come out great.
