Makvision 2425

Have a Makvision 2425 that was exhibiting a foldover on the top portion of the screen.

brought the unit back for repair and it failed to startup. Replaced the cap in the power supply (c511 upcaped to 200uf) and booted the chassis.

it starts up now, just now it immediately fried IC3 (LA7833). no big deal, i replaced it and it's cooked it again. checked the power resistors and the caps for the chip and all are still good.

any ideas peoples???

I haven't had the chance to get at it yet. The second time around in IC3 fiasco, i connected my lightbulb fuse up to it and was a dim flash then dark... monitor sounds like it's trying to start up. figured everything was okay so replaced with the fuse. was greeted with magic smoke from IC3...

i removed IC3 and noted melted plastic on leg 3 of the IC.

checked the caps and resistors and diodes of the circut downstream from leg three and found 2 open caps. 10uf 250volts

guess i'll have to source another IC3 for it tomorrow.
