MAME for P1 (100MHz)?
« on: July 30, 2003, 07:20:23 am »
1. What is the best version of mame for a Pentium 1, 100MHz?

2. Is there a list of all vertically set games that run in MAME?
LOL, answered my own question:

Why such a slow PC?  I have faster stuff than that laying around in a drawer.

1) Look at very very old versions of mame... And you might get something to work.

2) Look at faster emulators.  Hive is all I can think of at the moment, but there are others out there that are designed for slower machines..

but really... for 10 bucks you can get a machines 100x that speed.  Not worth using at all... You will spend SO much time getting a few games to run... You would be better off asking friends if they have  any crap in their basement you can mooch off.

Retrocade is a good emulator for old machines.  It only supports a little more than 100 games.
Real Life.  Still a poor substitute for video games!

Vantage is awsome for an old machine if you only want vertical games (80 of them)...and vertical monitor. Runs Donkey Kong  at 257FPS on a 486 DX4-100 w/16MB RAM. Your machine is more than fast enough.Find it here:

As noted above, Retrocade is also an excellent choice. It can be found here:
