WOW. So let me get this straight, you guys are saying it's possible to play ISO disks with out a hard drive using Free MC boot as long as the ISOs are patched with ESR?
Reading this post it seems as though you might be a little confused although it might just be that you've simplified how this all works too far to make sense anymore...
Here's a semi-simplified rundown of what you'll need to do to play PS2 copies on an "unmodded" PS2:
1. Get yourself a memory card containing
Free MCBoot (this is the hardest part*)
2. Place the
ESR Launcher on the memory card or a USB flash drive
3. Acquire an ISO (download one or rip a real PS2 game)
4.
if the ISO is a CD ISO (vs DVD ISO) you will need to convert it to a DVD ISO5. Patch the ISO with the
ESR ISO patcher6. Burn the patched ISO
7. Boot to the
ESR Launcher and launch the patched, burned game
*In order to install Free MCBoot to a memory card you will need a PS2 that can already run unsigned code. This could be one with a modchip, one of those cheat discs I believe or a memory card with Free MCBoot already on it. Yup, once you have a Free MCBoot card, you can make more!
If anyone wants me to install Free MCBoot to a memory card for them I am glad to. I live in NH(USA) and will do it for nothing. Of course if you do not live near me you'll have to mail it to me and provide return shipping. PM me.
with the real ps2's sure but certain slim versions do not work.
I've never heard of this. Can you point me to more info?
