First Cab Project
« on: April 15, 2010, 11:37:04 pm »
I had a few questions about my first real project...

First, is there any shame in buying a kit? like mamerooms 3 sided cocktail kit?

I just ordered one, and a bunch of other parts for my first cabinet (i have no tools or skill lol)

Ordered the 3 sided cocktail kit, the plexi top and the T molding, also ordered happ competition stick and buttons for it, and a ipac4 board.

Going to be running this with hyperspin frontend on a core2 duo e6750 with 2 gigs of ram and a 19 inch crt.

Pictures will follow when things actually arrive but i just wanted some advice and opinions on what i should add, and what my options are.

No shame at all; sounds like it will be a great machine when you are done with it...!

All you need is some cool graphics for under the plexi and the control panels. And some kind of speaker system; a small car stereo amp and a couple of little 4" shielded speakers should do the trick.

If you really wanted to make it slick, some LED lighting of some sort could be cool. Check out the project thread and have a gander at what others have done.

Have any friends who are graphic designers? I suggest you keep it simple; don't make it too busy.

Here are some pictures of my current progress, which is going slow i might add, dont wanna break it :) Dont mind the messy wiring thats all getting taken care of once i make sure that everything in that control panel is working :) Opinions and/or advice would be appreciated!

P.S. Could an admin or mod move this to the project forum? i dont wanna clutter your database up with a second thread!
