Question for my Father in law...
« on: April 05, 2010, 09:40:35 am »
My father in law has a 1987 Romstar Sky Shark cocktail cab. This was origonally a ms. pac man cab that was converted into Sky Shark a long time ago. He picked it up for $75 at an estaste sell. Also came with another board. Here's where the question begins. Him and his daughters were playing one day and the video completely went blank and they could only hear sound. While I am familiar with Computers and know this could be caused by video or lcd I wanted to ask you guys whether or not this would most likely be the Monitor or the Board. We do have another board to test that was tested when he bought it to be working. He can turn the system on; no video but can hear sound.

Does it seem to play blind? IE you can play even though you cannot see? If the answer is yes then the first thing I would check would be the video connection, maybe even reseat it and the next thing I would do would be to verify that the monitor is getting power to it. I would start there.

Sounds like the monitor has a problem.  Not uncommon.  Depends on the monitor how difficult it will be to repair.
