Monitor picture "bounces"
« on: April 04, 2010, 08:51:07 pm »
I have a Mitsubishi AM-3501R presentation monitor.  Here are the specs:

• 600 lines of composite video resolution
• 640 x 480 RGB resolution
• Accepts input signal 15.5kHz-35kHz horizontal and 40Hz-70Hz vertical
• Input configurations:
   3 Composite video BNC,
   1 S-video,
   1 RGBS BNC,
   Analog RGB D-sub 25-pin,
   TTL RGB D-sub 9-pin,
   8-pin VTR
• Composite one and RGBS BNC have looping outputs

I have a pc hooked up via S-video and have had it this way for a year or two.  It's been several months since I turned the monitor on.  When I turned it on this weekend, the pictures jiggles just enough to be annoying.  The entire screen moves up and down slightly.  I tried hooking the PC up to a VGA monitor and it does not do the same thing.

Being a presentation monitor, I have a variety of adjustment options on the front side of the case.  I've tried adjusting the horizontal but there's no change to this movement.  None of the other options are working either.  It has a built in degauss button.  I've degaussed it without it fixing it.

Is there anything else I can try?  I realize that I should probably try another piece of equipment that connects via S-video to eliminate the possibility of it being the input on the monitor.  As it's worked well in the past, I'm guessing that it's not the S-video connection.  Plus, I need to figure out if I have anything that connects via S-video anymore....

Thanks for any input/help.

i would leave it on for a while...if it subsides then i would suspect a cap is starting to go.

How long?  I did play a round of Golden Tee so it was on about 30 minutes or so.  Should I try for longer?

Thanks.

i would say 1/2 hour or so is about right.

so, i'm guessing 1/2 and hour and it still does it?

I believe so.  It was pretty close to 30 minutes.  I'll fire it up again and leave it on when I get home.

Ok, it's been on for about an hour and still giggling quite a bit.  Any other ideas?
