Insert 25 Cent Button
« on: April 02, 2010, 03:17:39 pm »
So I have a MAME cabinet and am not really interested in adding a coin door, coin mechs etc.  Basically i just want 4 buttons that look like the "Insert 25 Cents" buttons (and lit) that I can wire up to my IPAC.  Kinda like a poker machine type of button.  Anybody make anything like this?

Thanks,
Jason

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

Get an illuminated pushbutton.  Create an image that looks like a coin slot.  Insert it in the button.  Done!

OR, you can get a button like this that's premade...

Not sure how well putting a power button that looks like a coin-up button will work (especially with people playing your cabinet for the first time) but it is doable. As long as it's not a really, really old computer that has a solid rocker switch to turn on and off. If it's just a pushbutton on the computer for power, you should be good.

Check it out

can this be hooked up as if it were the on off switch of my computer?
It is a momentary (non-latching) button like a typical ATX computer power switch, so yes you can use it as a replacement.

Not sure why you'd want to use a "coin" button as a power button, though.   :dunno
