Flight 2000... will Jim like it?
« on: April 01, 2010, 01:55:39 pm »
So after a long dry spell from pinball purchasing I've got a friend with a F2K that has been basement sitting for a long while, and he's decided that I need it. It'll probably be a player that needs shopped at best, and I suspect he's in the $300 range. I'm going to see it Saturday.

Do I want it?

Discuss.

Best classic widebody SS, bar none.

Nah, Embryon is better...but F2K is one of the best classic Stern's

So, your saying there's a chance?  ;D

How will I like working on it? Anything I need to be watching out for specific to Stern of that era? I've never been in the backbox of a classic stern.

Be sure to remove the balls from the trough before transport. The switches can easily go out of adjustment with the balls bouncing around in the trough, and cause the game not to start up. Also, there's some parts on the speech board that are impossible to get, so I'd check to make sure it talks before you buy it, or you'd be SOL!

Other than the sound board, they are identical to classic Bally SS games.

Also, this game doesn't come with a knocker from the factory...all driver transistors are used for playfield functions, so no, yours isn't missing.

Ugh. Classic Bally is not my favorite to work on.

Thanks for the tips on the speech board. I'll be sure to check it out.

Yeah, yet another title James wasn't invited to play.   ::)

It wasn't working. It still doesn't talk, and sometimes, the right flippers don't work  :banghead:

Electronically, my Embryon is a mess...it has been since day 1...that's why it's not heavily worn

LMK next time you're down in CC...most of my collection is up and running now.

Well I own it. Mechanics and electrics are good. Playfield is roughish but good enough for a player, BG is checked but ok. Gotta go back and get it later... $250. If he wasn't a friend, I would have pushed him lower, but meh, it'll  be a fun project and I made him happy.

Congrats on your new "baby"! $250 is more than fair, even in TX prices :applaud:
