  • Huzzah!
I've come into contact with a guy that's supposedly in possession of an early, rare, prototype penny arcade machine. I'm trying to schedule a time with him where I can take a look at it, since the guy claims it has some historical significance (as it pertains to arcade machine history, ie: design/development). Not sure what he means, but I'd like to do some research so that I have a decent understanding about these types of devices if/when I get to see it. He's a little loopy, so who knows?!

Any great websites with historical data, info, etc?

Nice! If you can get one of these working (they went by different names but ones I have heard are clamshell scopes and nickelodeons) it would be cool. I actually did use one once at an amusement park that was set up like the old west (this one had a hand crank).

One of the cool things about them is that you could easily make your own little movies for them (if you can recreate the "cartridge" that they used) by printing all of your frames on a thick paper stock.
--- Yes I AM doing this on purpose, and yes I DO realize it is pissing you off.

---If my computers were cats, my place would look like an old widows house, with half of the cats having obvious health problems
