Mamewah vs Dragon
« on: July 28, 2003, 05:51:59 pm »
Hi,
I have been using DRAGON and have it running customized skins and running numerous emultors such as Nes, Snes, Gen, Snes, mame, Zinc, Pc games. I have been having problems with it crashing and mp3. I have been reading alot about Mamewah. I have never tried it and wondered how it compares? Can you use skins? can u use all emulators and reconfigure all the keys so that only your cp is used and no mouse or keyboard required? Can it play random mp3s?? just looking at some pros and cons of it before I try it.

thx
Jim

For the record both the u64 emu runs fine on dk.  I should know, I use it myself.  There is even a set of u64 specific wrappers if you'll look.   Nebula m2 doesn't take command lines, period.  So you are pretty much out of luck for that one.

For the record mamewah launches games exactly the same way as dk and laz do, using my wrappers and all.  So you aren't going to get any more compatibility by switching.

I encourage you to try mamewah anyway though as you seem to constantly have problems with my fes.  ;)

Hi,
I have it running pretty good now. Just every once in awhile I get error msgs. I will write them down and post them and maybe you might know the cause? I would like to try mamewah but I finally have grasped the concept of your front end. I believe that the errors are being caused by the mp3 playlist? all I did was make a playlist and called it background.m3u. what i find is, it will play one song then stop. or I get a path 76 error or something like that. I will write it down. I like DK its good. Just wondered the differences in the 2 front ends. I appreciate the feedback. thanks.

and I looked into KI I still can not get it to work. There is a file missing in the wrapper?

u64emu.cfg -placed into cfg folder of dk and set up.
u64emu.dat -placed in dat location
u64emucatver.ini - placed in catver file
set up my dirs to D:\U64Emu\
run the list and it doesn't show up?

I did notice no file .ini to edit to point to the emu is that correct? sorry i am dumb anyone hlp?

The main difference between dk and mamewah is hte graphics engine. dk uses directx which results in dk supporting lots of layering and transparency effects. So for the graphically inclined people like me dk is the first choice... All this fancy graphics stuff does take up rersources so for a low end system I would go for mamewah....
