I dont think I even have the rom...  That would be sweet though

EDIT...  Of course I have the Rom...  DUH...   Well...  It runs...  not TOO choppy, just a little..  VIDEO looks great, I can put credits in, but can not hit start for some reason and all the buttons are mapped correctly... weird...

It's not weird, really.  You should be seeing that pretty red screen you need to 'OK' to even run the game.  This tells the user the game is not expected to work.   Unforunately, most people think those screens are too annoying and they've patched them out of their own builds - leaving those people wondering why certain games do not work...

A good answer about this driver is in the mamedev.org wiki area:
http://mamedev.org/devwiki/index.php/GNW#mediagx

Whats more annoying than the nag screen is people who like to give a long winded answer how it bothers them to read newbies post and post another link to something that really doesnt give us any more information than we already had.  :-)

Now...  That's weird...  Really!!!

Please, take all the shots you want at me personally.  As for my general comment about those patching out the warning screens for their builds, it's 100% true.  Sorry if it was taken personally.

Why would I be replay if a) "it bothers them (me) to read newbies posts" and b) I did not truly believe the link and the information therein would help being some understanding to the issue in question?  Bringing light and attention to an untapped resource such as the MAMEDEV Wiki can only help and be a useful source for people who care to use it.  Check any forum I frequent, I'm always trying to help those who want it.

Mainly just need the inputs hooked up, which are mapped to the parallel port via a JAMMA interface

Key word being INPUTS, which are things such as START, which are currently not working correctly. ;)

Some other useless links -
MediaGX - http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MediaGX
MediaGX Hardware - http://www.system16.com/hardware.php?id=785

Some people may not have a layman term type of answer, but an answer none the less that could be viable if someone took the time to look into.
Like me for instance, I had not a clue about your question (I'm not a MAME'r) but now I know more about the answer than I shall ever need to know. :)

In reading about it on Wikipedia I noticed that MediaGX became the Geode which was sold to AMD. Somewhere in a box I have a Geode based thin client. Hmm.
planetjay.com. Still in Chicago. Still no hurricanes!

Well if it's hooked to the parallel port, then barring a shift register of some sort you only have one byte to work with.  If I were coding it (keep in mind I didn't) You'd use the full byte for inputs, with each input being a power of 2.... start 1 = 1,  start 2 = 2, coin 1 = 4, coin 2 = 8, ect.....

Of course that's just switches.  If the guns aren't hooked up then I don't have a clue as they could be anything.

Nah that aint it... or at least that isn't all.  The parallel port parser is hooked up in the driver.
