PlayStation 2, Ten Years
« on: March 04, 2010, 03:31:23 pm »
The PS2 turned ten today with it's release in Japan happening on March 4th 2000.

It's been some time, hasn't it?  A console with a massive titles list and titles to fill everyone's tastes.  Ten years and it's still getting games and it's still being sold new in regular stores.

For us arcade fans, it was in ways a strong machine.  With arcade ports of fighting games, light gun rail shooters, driving games, compilations, and lots of other related stuff.  If any console was 'An Arcade In A Box' it was the PS2 for sure.

  • Yeah, owning a MAME cab only leads to owning real ones. MAME just isn't good enough. It's a gateway drug.

I love my PS2. I have well over 500 games for it.

However, I still prefer Dreamcast for the arcade-in-a-box setup.

Happy b-day, PS2!

It's crazy to think 10 years have passed since it's debut. Just look at all that's come and gone since then. Kinda makes you wonder what 2020 is going to be like.

Games that have exactly the same graphics but incrementally better play?

I'm still pissed someone stole mine with the modchip.  If I want to play FFX Int'l, I'll need another chip, or possibly look into the HDD setup or some other method.  Either way, it costs money.

I still want to buy a slim and hack it to my cab.
If I had only one wish, it would be for three more wishes.
