U360: standard or stiff spring? Comparison to Magstick?
« on: March 03, 2010, 04:10:28 am »
Hi guys

I traded in my MagStick Pluses for two U360s a short while ago. I really liked the short throw of the MagSticks but the versatility and tweakability of the U360s clinched it. They will be mounted underneath a 2mm steel plate and the handles are standard. I have got two circular restrictors for the U360s to shorten the throw but as you know it's still a bit longer.

Can I have your opinion on the stiffer/harder springs please? A lot of people here like them but a lot of other people appear indifferent. How do they compare in practice, both to the standard springs and to the feel of the MagStick? Would I be better buying them given I really liked the feel of the Magsticks or would they not help in that respect?

Many thanks all

I don't know about how they compare to magstiks, but as for u360's I have 1 stiff spring on player 1 and 1 normal on player 2! Everyone I've asked prefers the stiffer spring. I was surprised, but out of about 15 people, nobody voted for the normal spring.

I also can't compare to magstiks, but I can say that everyone that has tried my U360s has preferred the stiff spring over the stock spring.

I have had both and I can't remember the mag compared to the 360 but the change to the stiff spring on the 360 I didn't even notice and I think most people prefer the stiff when using the 360.

Consensus tends to be "stiff spring plus a restrictor". You can't go wrong with that setup.

Thinks Ginsu. Ironically/annoyingly enough I got the circular restrictors when I ordered the sticks. Never even occurred to me to investigate the springs til well after the event.

Thanks Ginsu for thinking of that (this community is wicked! :)) - but I'm in the UK, actually just two or three miles from Andy's house - he just sticks this sort of thing (little things like switches, dust covers etc) in 1st class post for me!  ;D

Cheers fella
